Week 12 at CIT (Semester 2)

Hello there!! Well this is my last official blog that i have to write up. As per usual i better give you an update on my last week. All is very busy at the moment you can imagine. A lot to be covered but like always i am giving it my best.

I have had plenty of assessments and projects done since i last talked. I did my Web last Thursday and have to admit i was quiet pleased i got the javascript working. Yesterday was my 21st birthday and i had a lovely gift from CIT to hand up 3 projects. I handed up Hardware, Programming and Web and i was quiet pleased with everything i submitted. I gave my best in all of them and hoping i can pick up a good chunk of the marks. Today i had a programming exam worth 50% and it didn't go the way i wanted, there was quiet a lot to be carried out in the 2 hours (too much actually) but i gave it my best and have to be happy with what was done. If i can pick up as many marks as i can now i will be happy with everything - hoping i will make it to year 2.

Yesterday as i said was my 21st, i didn't bother with any 21st party as i don't want asking people to come to a pub basically to give me €21. A "Happy Birthday" is just as valuable to me. A load of my classmates were very good in wishing me well and when i came home yesterday after a long day my parents and sister had a nice cake for me and we had a small party of our own!! :) Really enjoyed it and much appreciated - quality stuff!! :)

Well i must leave it at that, i have enjoyed writing to these blogs during Semester 2 - anyone actually read them?? haha!! Now my exams will have to be taken care of.

Wish me luck!! :)

Week 11 at CIT (Semester 2)

Hello there, well i found out that these blogs may not carry any marks towards the module Web Development which is kinda a drag as i kept up with them but sur i might as well finish up the last two weeks while i'm here. :)

All is very busy at the moment. I'm doing respectable in terms of my progression in terms of my projects. I practically have my Web Development done, the hardware is nearly there also and i have bought 3/4 of my programming done. A few are due at the end of the week so i must try and finish them up in a comfortable state. Four of the modules this year are continuos assessment so there is a chunk of stuff to be sorted during the year.

Last week i was kept busy, working away with everything and some more assessments this week. Unfortunately one of my best friends grandmother left this world of unseen circumstances. I went back to the Scartoglin where the removal was held to support my friend and his family. It was very sad for the family and i pray for them in hope that they will be able to recover from this situation. RIP Eileen.

I better leave it at that. I will be here again next week to compose my last blog. All is busy and i hope to get a flying finish on my projects. :)

God's speed

Week 10 at CIT (Semester 2)

Week 10 - we are getting close to the end!! I have to say that things are really busy at the moment. More or less projects are on the plate so i need to complete them by the end of the month. Everything is moving on good i have to say.

Well the the projects that are keeping me busy are the programming, hardware, web and HCI. Saturday was a great day as i got my HCI complete and i also made great progress in my Web Development. At the end of the evening i even got to dip into a bit of hardware which was a great job as i got a lot of work done. To be honest the projects aren't too troubling at the moment however its just about getting the time to do the work. With so much things to be doing it is challenge from that point but i hope to have everything done to the best of my ability in the end.

I am trying to work away at the moment so you can't blame me by cutting this blog short today - things are busy and it has to be done.

Wish me luck!!

Week 9 at CIT (Semester 2)

Well i'm back from the Easter holidays!!! Trying to get back into the trend of the place once again. Four offical weeks left - crunch time!!!

Well i better give you an update on everything. I'm doing ok with all my projects - i have everything started and am making work in progress. All have their knacks however i hope to give my best in all of them. I have to be totally honest and say that last week was a bit of a disaster - college wise. I started well the Bank Holiday Monday but then on the Tuesday i got a call form work asking if i would come in!! It was very tempting for the money and decided to go in up until the Friday. So you can imagine that hindered my performance to hit the college work and it turned out that i didn't do anything else for the rest of the week. A blow however there was good and bad aspects to it and i hope to react in the right manner.

I told you last week we had a Duhallow U21 Championship Final on Saturday... well we won the match by 10 points against Boherbue!! Lyre played brilliant with every player giving there all and it was our first time every winning that trophy since it was established in 1968. Even more fitting was that my cousin Colman was the captain and he dedicated the win to our cousin Kevin who committed suicide last Christmas. Kevin was one of our best player and he, Colman and myself are all the same age. After the game we brought the trophy back to his grave which was truly special. I really miss him and prayer to him hoping he is safe in the lords hands. My message to Kev is - Thanks for being our 16th man buddy, you are the heart and soul of the team, i really miss you and wish you were there to embrace it however i know that i will see you again and we can talk about that great game and everything else!! RIP kid

That night i had to go to a 20th Birthday back in Killarney, made it at 11.45pm and it was great fun!! Great to go back and give a birthday card to a shining friend Julett... it was great meeting up and i hope it brought a smile to her face!! :) After a long day i made it to bed at 4.45am. The Sunday was wonderful, on late notice i decided back AGAIN to Killarney and met my great friend Patrick who is Julett's brother and we went to see the a Kerry - Monaghan match. Apart from the result it was great... haha being a Cork man Kerry won however it was really nice being back there in a glorious sunny day and after we chilled in the town watching the world go by and talked like mad!! We went to the cinema after to watch Kick Ass which was pretty good. After that i decided it was time to go and got home by 10!! Late notice however it was a noble decision to head back.... thanks Patrick!!! haha

Well there you have it... it was a rollacoster of a weekend... i will definitely look back at it in the future in great memory and it will bring a smile to my face.... hears hoping i can focus on my college duties and give it my all.

Thanks for reading!!

Easter Holiday Update

Hello i just said i would give an update on how the holidays are going.

Well plenty of projects being carried out. For the first week i manly tackled the Hardware and i've nearly that completed so that's nice. I also touched on Web and Programming. Web i started looking at CSS which wrecked my head for a few days however i made a break through today so i hope to give it a good go this week. Likewise with programming i just started on my project and i hope to be dipping my hands into that this week also. The good thing is that we have until around May to have these completed so it's nice to be starting a bit early and avoiding the hectic finish - even though that will probably occur anyway!!!

Doing my best with all the college work but i am also enjoying myself aswel!! Had a 21st last week and also have another birthday next Saturday which is something to look forward to. Beforehand though we have an Duhallow U21 Final against Boherbue in Milstreet at 6.30 and we hope to give it everything against them. Focusing on ourselves and hoping as a team we can deliver a quality performance. I'll inform ya on how things go anyway and i will continue to do my best in all aspects in life!! :)

Enjoy the rest of the holidays!!

Week 8 at CIT (Semester 2)

How now!!! Well as predicted things are getting a bit busier in this place. It is the last week before the two week Easter break and we are starting to get some projects and assignment. It is to be expected and each carry a good chunk of the marks so its about doing my best in each and see what happen after that.

The assignments i got for this week are Web and Programming. Both are difficult in their own right but they ain't impossible. The Web assignment is about designing a webpage that applies to CSS which we haven't done much of yet however we will be doing more of it after Easter. Programming is also testing as we have to produce the majority of the program out of Files and Arrays however we should be able to pull through in the end. With Hardware and HCI projects also it ought to be a busy period in the next few weeks.

The sporting scene was a bit of a mixed bag in the last week. Ireland were beaten in the Triple Crown decider against Scotland which was very disappointing however i have to be fair and say that the Scots played very well and deserved their win - credit has to be due. I also told you last week that i had a U21 football semi-final championship in Milstreet last Friday. It was great as we won in a really dreadful night - weather wise however the boys were great and we deserved our 4 point win sincerely. I even got the last 10 minutes where i was thrown in the forward and i ran my heart out for the team. The final is on Saturday 3rd April against Kiskeam or Boherbue so whoever we meet we will give it our very best and see what happens in the end.

There you have it - things are that bit busier however i am still enjoying the experience of the place and having real fun with my mates - especially in the common room!!! haha :)

Week 7 at CIT (Semester 2)

Hi there, well we are in St Patrick's week and the big day will be coming up tomorrow. It gives us Wednesday off which is nice and also i haven't been feeling so good Monday and Tuesday due to a cold and a sore throat. We will have to solider on!! :)

Things are as busy as usual. We are after having a few assessments last week and i also had a Hardware MCQ assessment this morning which i got 80%, i was very happy with as negative marks applied. We have another week after this and after that we have two weeks off. I know things will get a bit busier due to assignments and projects so i will have to be on top of my toes and do want is required to get it through this Semester. Hardware and HCI we already have projects while Programming will be handed out next week.

The rugby was great in the weekend. Ireland were extremely good against Wales and scored three great tries. We still have a chance in winning the 6 Nations Championship however France have a +50 points difference so it is extremely unlikely that we will pull it off because France are awesome at the moment. We have the Triple Crown to play for against Scotland on Saturday so it would be a nice prize to get in the end.

Well i must leave it at that. I have football training coming up soon so i must head. I play U21 for Lyre and we have a Duhallow championship semi-final match this Friday night so we hope to give it our very best. :)

Till then, god bless!!

Week Six at CIT (Semester 2)

We are approaching the middle of the semester in CIT, after this week it will be another six weeks and we shall have the Summer to look forward to!! I have to say it is going quiet fast, there has been a few mid-term assessments undertaken and plenty more to come.

This week i am after having three assessments already, i had Programming yesterday morning and i have to admit it went quiet well. I got the whole thing working to its requirements so i was very happy to get it done. Today i had a Probability assessment and overall i think i did quiet good, out of the four questions i got three in fairly good nick so i have to be pleased in the end. After that i had a Programming MCQ where we had to answer 30 multiple questions, they are quiet tough as i had experience from it last year and i was happy to get 190/300. It was worth 5% so that's a nice 3% to have in the bag!! :)

I had a great time at last weeks Pick & Mix Ball last week, nice to dress up for the occasion and have plenty of fun with my friends. I am looking forward to the rugby this weekend, we are playing Wales in Croke Park and it should be a good game. I hope we can get the win and HOPEFULLY England can do us a favour the subsequent week and we may nick the Six Nations Championship!! But it is very unlikely as the French are on fire.

Nice, as you can tell i am a bit busy, there is plenty of work to be done in the coming weeks. Hardware, Routing, HCI, etc. That's what to look forward to..... hope i can give it my all for each assessment. :)

Talk laters!!

Week 5 at CIT (Semester 2)

Hello there, well i must give an update again on how i'm getting on in this place. Well i admit everything is going really swell, i am feeling really happy of late in CIT and beyond so it's nice to be on a high.

In the coming weeks things will be getting a bit busier. Next week we have a Programming Assessment worth 20% and after that there is a Hardware online exam worth 12.5% so there are marks up for grabs. Today in Programming i got on really well, we were given a lab question, very similar to next weeks Assessment so i hope the same will come to prosper. The Hardware is a bit harder to prepare for as it's multiple choice and also the question can be tricky. As they say, ill do my best to prepare the best i can and we shall see what occurs after that.

On a sporting front i didn't catch much really - just the most important match which was England vs Ireland and it was a classy game!!! Tommy Bowe scored a beauty in the end and it set me up well as i went to Killarney after and it was great fun. Last week i have to admit was a great week. Things are going really good for me and sometimes you have to lay back and just consider how life is going and for me i feel really good when i look at everything. I loving it up in CIT, making great friends up there, doing my all in my modules and outside of that i look at everything and say i feel really lucky. Things sometimes in life don't come to plan and they didn't for me however i am happy in this moment so i'm glad its this way!! :)

Just note taking here but the i learned from my night in Killarney that Americans will truly believe ANYTHING and the French are as bad as i thought (The woman anyway!!!) haha The Pick & Mix ball is on Thursday - it should be good!!! :)

Cool ill leave it at that!! :)

Week 4 at CIT (Semester 2)

Wow i have to admit it is a bit weird writing up my fourth entry for this - time is going by nicely and i have to say everything is going nicely hear. I am expecting things to get a bit busier in the coming weeks so we will have to keep in touch with everything.

I have to admit everything is going well with my modules - well i don't have complaints yet. I think i'm on top of everything anyhows. Sometimes i always get the feeling that i'm going well in one module but then think i'm taking my eye off another. I guess that the challenge at hand!! :) The modules i think i'm ok with are HCI, Probability, Hardware and Web Development however Programming and Routing i think may provide the fight this semester. They are both tough subjects in their own right and i hope everything will go well through the semester as they are 100% assessment.

Everything is going well outside of study. The COM group are really having a good time as we are spending more time with each other as a group. We are always playing pool up in the Common Room which is great fun and i have to admit watching Kevin Moore playing pool is quality stuff!! :) Me - well i give it my best and i ain't no Ronnie O'Sullivan!!

That's the update for this week. I have to admit everything is going quiet well hear in CIT and i hope it continues however its more likely to get tougher however that's why i'm hear!! :)

Bye Bye

Week 3 at CIT (Semester 2)

Hello again, well i was in a bit early this morning due to the National schools having mid-term so i thought this would be a good oppurtunity to continue with my blog. This week is RAG week!!! wow

Well to give an update on everything i have to say everything is going breezy enough. Doing my best to keep on top of everything and i think i'm doing ok. I have a HCI project to hand up by tomorrow but i will hand Paul Rothwell the hardcopy today and do away with it. I am quiet satified with it and we have another project due for 5th March. This is a team assignment where i am teamed up with Caroline Buckley and Kevin Moore and we are offically called "Group 5" however we refer ourselves as "Team Awesome" :) I am really getting into Web Development now, html at first was a bit strange however you get into the hang of it and we are going through nested lists and tables - i understand what methods are applied for their construction. Everything else is going fine at the moment. I am just trying to browse through these subjects at home so i am familar with them and i hope it will move me onto Semester 3.

From a working point of view i am now finished up in Dairygold for the moment. The audit was on Tuesday so my services are not required for now. I hope to work there again for the Summer which will be cool as getting an income is nice. :) Not only that but i can focus on college too.

So there you go, i have to say i better be finishing up on this entry as i have Computer Hardware with Denis Long in a few minutes so i better head over to C134. Must be done!!!

Stay cool!!!

Week 2 at CIT (Semester 2)

Howdy ho!! Well i better give you all an update on how things are developing. Everything i have to admit is going fine, settling back into the place again after the break. This week is UCC RAG week so everyone upon the place is feeling the urge to hit the town!! ;)

I have to say it is tough trying to settle back into the Programming, it had been around 9 weeks since we actually had a class with Jim Doyle. However for this semester in "Programming Fundamentals 2" we have a new lecture - Gemma O'Callaghan. To be honest i think it wasn't a wise decision to change lectures as Jim knew what we have covered in the course and more importantly he knew the students within the class. So it is a change with the Gemma as she is getting to know us but hopefully everything will surpass in a breeze. I have to say everything is going well in all the other subjects, Routing, Protocols and Concepts maybe the most difficult one of them all but in i hope in time i should be ok. I have a HCI (Human Computer Interface) assignment due Friday and im nearly finished it so i hope to patch up everything after writing this.

I am working the weekends of last. For instance i have worked the last two weekends and i have to say i feel blessed to be working part-time but then again it is tiring. I slept on Tuesday till 8 (which recently is late by my book) and that extra hour sleep made some difference - i was seriously chirpy that day!!! haha This weekend could be my last weekend working as there is a big audit next Tuesday so i'd say my services won't be required until the Summer. To be honest it is for the best as things are getting busy in college and the weekends will be required for that bit of study. Cork and Kerry are playing this Saturday in the National Football League in Cork and i'm planning heading up to it with my Kerry buddy Patrick. The banter should be gas and bragging rights will be at stake - something to look forward to!!! CIT RAG week next week also!!! :)

Well there you have it, everything is going fine up here i have to say, i'm smiling in any case so things must be good!!! :)

So long!!

Week 1 at CIT (Semester 2)

Well back to the grind of CIT. To be honest its good to be back, a change to the last month so its nice to be put into busy mode. Well Colin Manning told us that we are to write a blog for this subject - to be honest i thought it was the end of the blogging after Creative, Innovation & Teamwork so i guess we have to continue the trend this semester aswel.

We had our first lab in Web Development Fundamentals and i think its cool. I always loved the thought of producing a webpage that people could have access to. We made a webpage today and i made mine about being happy in life so i had a few pictures and text which was cool. For the first day i was happy with what i created so i hope i can obtain the skills to make quality websites. Colin has created an iTunes account where we can access recordings of classes and develop our thoughts on Web Development. We are to listen the recordings "Class 2" and "Class 3" so i will have a look at them tonight. Thats the plan anyway!!! :)

We have be introduced to all our other new modules and we shall see how those develop. I passed all last semesters exams so i hope to pass all modules in semester 2 and hopefully have a free, relaxing and WARM Summer. Well i better leave it at that for now.

Take it easy
